In part, because i don't have a car that can pull my kitchen gear, but also because i like to work in my kitchen. it's kinda cool, you know?
but the more i've been using my slow cooker, the more i've been wanting to have a slow cooker on the stove. not the "stove" side, the cooking side. i like the control of having a pot and a timer, and not having to monitor it. and what is more efficient than having a big pot on the back burner for your aromatics while you're cooking?
i'd love to share my kitchen with you, if you'd like, and let you try my "favorite" slow cooker recipes. i'll post the recipe, and you can add your tips and suggestions, along with pics if you like!
How I love my slow cooker! I started making soup a couple of years ago and have never looked back. Not only is it such a great way to make soup in my slow cooker, but it is also the most economical. Don't use bottled broth and flavorings? Add your own fresh herbs, garlic, onion, etc. I tend to make my soups in my slow cooker in the winter and stove top in the summer. So far no freezer burn. I use a 6 qt. Crock Pot, but I have heard great things about the 6 qt. set.
I think we're about the same size. I prefer to cook in a stove top and oven but I have a slow cooker for just those times when I'm not home for a week. I have a small electric one, which I like because it takes care of itself, so I don't have to worry about running it. You can put whatever you want in the crock pot, it can be so customizable. I think I'll try to get my brother to make a version of this for my birthday!
